Everything you need to know about the Charity Flutter — how it works, what you can win, and how your entry supports racehorses in need.
Register with your email address. You'll need to confirm you're 18 or over and a resident of Great Britain.
Browse open races and buy between 1 and 20 tickets per draw at £5 each. Payment is fast and secure via Stripe.
Once the field is declared, every ticket is randomly assigned a horse. If you buy after declarations, your horse is assigned instantly.
If your horse wins, you share the prize pot equally with all other ticket holders for that horse. Prizes are paid via PayPal or bank transfer within 7 days.
Racehorse Relief (Registered Charity No. 1157554) is a UK-based charity dedicated to the rehabilitation, retraining, and rehoming of ex-racehorses. Every year, hundreds of horses leave the racing industry — some through retirement, some through injury — and Racehorse Relief is there to give them the care and second chance they deserve.
The charity provides veterinary care, specialist retraining programmes, and works to find loving, appropriate homes for horses that can no longer race. It is run by a dedicated team of trustees, staff, and volunteers who are passionate about equine welfare.
By entering a Charity Flutter, we aim for around 50% of each ticket price (after costs) to go directly to Racehorse Relief. You're not just trying your luck — you're making a real difference to horses in need.
Visit racehorserelief.orgUnder the UK Gambling Act 2005, any office sweepstake where people pay to enter and prizes are awarded is classified as a Work Lottery. Work Lotteries are only legal without a licence if they meet a strict set of conditions — conditions that most modern, hybrid workplaces cannot satisfy.
Failing to comply can result in heavy fines from the Gambling Commission. Check whether your current sweepstake meets every requirement below.
Remote or hybrid workers are joining
The law: The law requires every participant to work at the exact same physical location. You cannot run it across multiple sites or home offices.
Entry fees collected online, via bank transfer, Monzo, or PayPal
The law: Tickets can only be sold to colleagues when you are all physically present at the workplace. Online, email, and phone sales are not permitted.
A digital draw or online random generator is being used
The law: The draw must take place on the business's physical premises. It cannot be conducted online.
Using a spreadsheet instead of paper tickets
The law: You must provide a physical ticket to every single person taking part.
If any of the above apply to your sweepstake, it is legally non-compliant under UK law.
Racehorse Relief (Charity No. 1157554) holds an official lottery licence, making Charity Flutter completely legal for remote and hybrid teams — with zero admin for whoever organises it.
